Every New Yorker loves a good rooftop bar as a setting for tossing back cocktails with friends during the warm summer city months. But living in the wintery northeast, we wouldn’t dare sip bevies on a roof in December. Heck no. It’s 38 degrees out. That would be insane. Or would it?
As it turns out, New Yorkers are all kinds of insane. We don’t let bitter winds, icicles or blinding snow squalls hold us back from enjoying year-round rooftop drinking. Instead of hibernating until April, we pile on another layer, call our friends, and head on up to one of the many rooftop bars that serve outdoor deliciousness 12 months strong.
This weekend, Scriptable Solutions will be taking in the bright lights of the big city at 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar for our annual company Christmas cocktail fest. And since it is supposed to be a balmy 51 degrees outside on Friday, we decided it would best to wrap our frosty fingers around a toasty mug of Morgan’s Hot Cider while chilling hard in one of their heated igloos.
If you haven’t been to 230 Fifth Rooftop Bar during this time of the year, you’re missing out. It displays a colorful mixture of wide-eyed tourists, buzzed millennials, selfie takers and red robe wearers, all sprinkled with a wee bit of Christmas magic. Colorful light shows, views of the Empire State building, complimentary red robes, illuminated snowflakes and transparent heated igloos quickly transform this large New York City rooftop bar into a mini winter wonderland.
So if you’re looking to spice up your holiday season with lights, music, alcohol and the freshness of the great outdoors, or if you simply want to escape your germ ridden apartment for a second or two – we suggest a trip over and up to 230 Fifth Rooftop. Grab an igloo and a spiked hot chocolate and let the sights of the city lift your holiday spirits and set them soaring.
Happy Holidays from our office to yours!
